Published by admin under Passive GPS Tracking

GPS Tracking Key

LandAirSea invented passive gps tracking in 1994.  Since then, LandAirSea Systems have produced multiple GPS tracking systems over the years. Their GPS tracking systems has been in to the forefront of GPS surveillance technology that has gone through extensive research and testing. The GPS Tracking Key was developed by LandAirSea Systems Inc.

Initial Setup

The system is ready to go right out of the box. Finding and purchasing the tracking Key was very convenient because we were able to buy it at a local Pep Boys Auto Center.  Just place 2 AAA batteries in the units and place it in the vehicle. Its that simple!  Better yet there is no on/off switch to worry about once the batteries are in the unit on and ready to track.

Software Installation

LandAirSea Systems has incorporated a verity of changes in their new software package for the Tracking Key. Better error checking and a more user friendly interface has greatly improved their software.  Installation is simple.  Just plug the Tracking Key in your computer’s USB port, install the driver, and you can download the information that the unit has gathered.

Cover and Concealment

This unit is extremely small and very easy to conceal. Add to that its high sensitivity GPS and you have a unit that will work almost any where and with almost any orientation that you put it in. Where as other systems you have to orient the antenna to face upward. This unit, you can confidently place upside down under the car and you will get excellent tracking results.

Mapping

LandAirSea Systems has done a wonderful job incorporating a powerful tracking system with some of the best mapping on the market today. The Tracking Key uses Google Earth© as its primary mapping source. What this means is you will have your tracking data not only displayed on a street map, but it will be displayed on beautiful high resolution satellite photography as well.  Now in case that you are in an area where Google© hasn’t incorporated the satellite photography yet, LandAirSea Systems has standard maps available in their software suite that will display your information on a normal street map. This is defiantly a perfect example of form meeting function.

Tracking (Ability and Accuracy)

As stated earlier this is a highly sensitive tracking system. The unit will work in almost any orientation and even upside down under the car and it will accurately and consistently gather data. The unit was engineered with this in mind, to make a device that was so simple and easy to use that even people with no experience in using GPS tracking devices will has no problems effectively using this product the first time.

Technical Support

As always LandAirSea Systems has fast and reliable technical support that is available Monday thru Friday from 8:30am-5pm Central Standard Time.

GPS Tracking Review

What is GPS tracking?

GPS tracking use a system of satellites orbiting the Earth to find an approximate location of the receiver with in a few meters of its actual location. These systems are known for their accuracy and reliability, and can generally give you an accurate reading with in a few feet of your position.

Are GPS Tracking Systems Difficult to use?

If you really do your home work and research the product before you buy it, then you shouldn’t have any difficulty when using your new system. However, out of the box some GPS systems can be more complicated or less complicated than others. Some require a power cable to be hard wired to the vehicle’s power, while others will run of AA batteries. The key thing that you are looking for in your GPS Systems is flexibility and ease of recovery. You don’t want something that is extremely difficult to place or recover, because it might compromise your ability to gather data.

GPS Tracking Systems Available.

There are two types of systems available on the market today: passive tracking systems and real-time GPS systems. A passive unit maintains a record of every location it has been in a particular vehicle. This information can then be downloaded onto your computer and viewed using the manufacturers software, which was included with your tracking unit. Real-time systems allow you to view the units location whenever you desire. These systems either use a web-based interface to view the units position (i.e. logging on to the manufacturers website with a username and password given to you by the manufacturer of the unit) or the manufacturer may include software for such purposes.

Cost of GPS Tracking Systems.

A good quality passive GPS unit will cost approximately $300 dollars, depending on the options available on that particular unit. On the other hand, a basic real-time GPS system will generally start at around $500 dollars and could cost up to thousands of dollars. Both real-time and passive trackers are commonly cellular based systems, which use cellular towers in the surrounding area to upload data they receive from satellites. If tracking in a remote area, where cellular service is not available, is desired, a two-way satellite system would be necessary. These, however, are much more expensive to purchase and operate.
